Mosquitoes do not commute.

Vanderburgh County treats standing water that lasts longer than a day. Use that threshold when you walk your yard.

Shade decides where the adults spend the day.

They sit out the heat in dense ground cover, shrub beds, and under heavy canopy. A shaded lot holds far more than the open lawn next door.

River valley ground stacks it further.

Creek edges and bottom land favor Indiana's two most abundant floodwater species, Ochlerotatus trivittatus and Aedes vexans (Purdue Extension).

One spray does not make a yard permanently mosquito free.

Any company promising that is overselling. A treatment knocks down the mosquitoes on your property right now. It does not seal the property off.

Store-bought products wet the wrong surfaces.

Hose-end sprays soak the open lawn, and almost no adult mosquitoes spend the day there. They sit in shade, on the undersides of foliage in shrub beds and along fence lines, waiting out the heat. Spray that never reaches the undersides of leaves never reaches the mosquitoes. That is the gap, and it is why an afternoon with the hose buys one quiet evening.

Citronella, foggers, and zappers move a handful.

They kill or push a few insects near the patio. The population is untouched.

The yard also refills.

Purdue Extension puts egg hatch at 2 to 3 days, larval development at about a week, and the pupal stage at 2 to 3 days. New adults arrive on that schedule whether or not you treated. A one-time service call cannot outrun it.

So the mechanism is repetition.

1. Walk the property with you.

Standing water comes first, before anything gets treated. What can be dumped, we dump on the spot. What cannot be dumped, we treat where it sits. Then we tell you what we found and what we did about each one. This is work we perform on the visit, not a checklist we hand you at the door.

2. Map the daytime resting spots.

Adults sit out the heat in shade, so we mark where that shade is on your lot. Shaded shrub beds. Dense ground cover. The space under decks and porches. Fence lines. The north and shaded sides of the structure. They hide in the shade, we hunt them there.

3. Apply the barrier to the undersides of the foliage.

That is where mosquitoes actually rest, so that is where the application goes. Not a lap around the open lawn. Placement is the whole difference between a treatment that holds through the cycle and one that quits early.

4. Treat the perimeter and the transition line.

We work the perimeter of the structure, then the tall grass and the woodline where the mowed yard ends. Edges hold more mosquitoes than the middle.

5. Return roughly every three weeks through the season.

That interval matches how fast a yard refills with new adults. It is the cycle we run across mosquito, flea and tick control, and it is the part that decides your summer.
